Fire Alarms
We work to the current British standards BS 5839, If a Fire Alarm System is deemed to be necessary
in a building then it is a legal requirement that a maintenance plan is in place, otherwise this is a breach of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Fire alarm systems should be maintained and serviced every 6 months, as a minimum, and sometimes more often in larger complex systems.
Emergency Lights
Emergency Lighting is needed in the event of a normal lighting supply failure or in the event of a fire to light up the escape routes in order to leave the building to a place of safety, It is important that all emergency lighting, once installed, is maintained and tested in accordance with BS5266. This standard sets out the minimum requirements for testing.
Fire Extinguishers
Fire Extinguishers are mandatory in all commercial and industrial premises, it's important that your premises have the correct fire extinguishers appropriate to activities carried out. They need to be serviced and checked on an annual basis to ensure they are kept in good working order so they are ready to use if you need them. This is in accordance with the Code of Practice stipulated in British Standard 5306 part 3, 2009; 5306 part 8, 2012 and 5306 part 9, 2015.
